Whitehaven will host some special guests for their final Championship game of the season on September 10.
Newcastle Thunder are the visitors to the LEL Arena on the field but, in partnership with The Decommissioning Alliance Haven, will welcome State of Mind’s Danny Sculthorpe and Phil Veivers.
Their visit to the Whitehaven v Newcastle game coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day.
State of Mind was established in 2011 following the suicide of former Great Britain hooker Terry Newton which shocked the game to its core.
The charity’s aim is to improve the mental health, well-being and working life of rugby league players and communities.
A number of well-known League personalities are now involved with the charity alongside Danny and Phil, including former Super League referee Ian Smith.
On the day, Danny and Phil will talk in the Garry Purdham Suite and JJ McKeown Bar as well as having a stall around the ground to talk about a very personal and important subject – suicide being the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.
