An early second-half blitz sent Barrow tumbling to only their second League defeat of the season at Northampton.
And the rival managers gave their individual take on the crucial spell when Northampton scored twice to turn a 1-1 half-time stalemate into a winning position.
Cobblers boss Jon Brady said: “I felt we needed to start the second-half with intensity. We talked about it at half-time and discussed a couple of things because I felt we could be better and we could be a lot more intense in certain phases of the game.
“Sometimes you get a reaction and we did in the second-half and it was great because we killed off the game with two quick goals and then controlled the game until the very end, even with 11 minutes of stoppage time.
“We had to ride one or two storms and Lee Burge made an incredible save but we saw it out well.”
Brady had asked for quicker deliveries into the box, and Ali Koiki obliged within 38 seconds of the restart when his first-time cross was headed home by Kieron Bowie.
But from the receiving end Barrow manager Pete Wild said: “It was a game where not a lot went on. The difference is they have taken their chances and they were ruthless at the start of both halves.
“All their goals have come from three things that we are usually good at – defending our own box, stopping tackles and winning tackles. We are good at those things so that’s really the frustrating thing about this defeat.”
