A Workington restaurant which went into administration will see its fixtures and fittings go under the hammer.

Hooked and Plucked, on Derwent Drive – formerly Caspian Flame Grill – closed its doors suddenly on July 31.

Staff were told that the restaurant would cease to trade immediately.

Now, its extensive range of catering gear, furnishings and six cars are set to be auctioned off later this month.

The equipment includes chipping machines, tables and chairs, ovens, pizza ovens, fridges and freezers and crockery. Even the cars used for deliveries are set to go under the hammer.

The equipment is being sold on the instructions of Armstrong Watson LLP, the joint administrators of Caspian Restaurants Limited and held by Sanderson Wetherall. Bidding closes on Wednesday, September 21.

Owned by Sohrab and Valerie Padidar Nazar, of Rosely, near Wigton, the restaurant opened in 1998 and had been extended twice to keep up with demand.

he couple had operated a takeaway in the town from 1983 before moving to the purpose-built Derwent Drive venue.

Recently, the restaurant became Hooked and Plucked, specialising in fish and chicken, although Caspian Flame Grill continued to offer takeaway pizzas, burgers and kebabs.

In 2019, the restaurant was put up for sale for £1.75 million. At the time, 58-year-old Mr Padidar-Nazar said he wanted to retire at 60.
