Workington and District Sunday League’s delayed season will start this weekend.

It had been due to start on September 4 but because the League Committee proposed switching to a 12-team single Division competition there had to be time given for any objections.

Those were duly received and a Special AGM was held last Thursday at which the one Division plan was approved.

Fixtures have now been released for the first two weeks of the new season, taking them through September.

Northside, who completed the quadruple last season, start on Sunday at Wakefield Road, Cockermouth, against Deer Orchard.

Maryport Athletic and Sun Inn Athletic, the top two teams in Division Two last season, both start with home games against Rangers and Senhouse respectively.

Bliue Bell v Sun Inn; Dearham v Salterbeck and Seaton Rangers v Flimby Social complete the first round of fixtures.

Games on September 25 are: Sun Inn Athletic v Northside; Blue Bell v Dearham; Salterbeck v Sun Inn; Flimby v Deer Orchard; Senhouse v Rangers; Seaton Rangers v Maryport Athletic.
