A four acre piece of Lake District woodland will go under the hammer next month with a guide price of £180,000.
Spindle Coppice Wood, at Skelwith Bridge, Ambleside, comes with its own beck and a timber cabin.
With panoramic views of the Lakeland fells and on the edge of existing ancient semi-natural woodland, Spindle Coppice Wood comprises of a single block of woodland, next to a larger woodland with a small beck running through it.
The woodland is predominantly oak and birch, with some sycamore and holly, and has in recent years been managed primarily for nature and conservation. It is a haven for wildlife including red squirrels and deer, said agents H&H Land & Estates, and in the springtime the woodland is carpeted with bluebells.
The site brings with it the potential for development, subject to further planning permissions, H&H Land & Estates said.
It will be sold via public auction at Marchesi Centre in Windermere, on October 21.
Rachel Bagshaw, associate director and head of land agency South Lakes, said: “There is an ever increasing interest in woodland, for both recreational and investment purposes, so I am sure Spindle Coppice Wood will be sought after.
“Not only does it provide a great opportunity for those looking specifically to purchase mature woodland, it provides an opportunity for people looking for an escape from the stress of modern life and to reconnect with nature. As there is already an existing building on the land, it may make it much easier for the new owners to secure planning permissions and realise their dreams of creating the ultimate woodland hideaway.”
