Two youth team players from Manchester United are training with Barrow this week as part of the Premier League club’s Pro Experience Programme.
The programme gives players the opportunity to taste an EFL environment, enjoying a flavour of a first team football set-up and how a League Two team prepare for matchday.
It is something that Barrow boss Pete Wild is delighted about, especially as it allows Barrow to build links with a club like Manchester United. He said: “It came off the back of last week’s game against United U21s in the Papa John’s Trophy.
“Manchester United were very impressed with the way we conducted ourselves and do our business, on and off the pitch, and asked if we’d be interested in taking on a couple of lads.
“It’s fantastic that we can start to build a relationship with one of the biggest clubs in the world and hopefully this is just the start of a strong partnership.”
Manchester Utd won that Trophy game last week but afterwards their Under-21s coach Travis Binnion praised the Barrow performance.
