Helen Skelton has picked an ’emotional’ song choice for her next Strictly live show.

Helen and dance partner Gorka Marquez will be performing a Charleston to the theme tune of Blue Peter, the show that kickstarted the star’s broadcasting career.

This week, the BBC is celebrating 100 years of service, and the infamous dance show is going all out to celebrate.

Each couple will perform under the theme of various iconic BBC shows, ranging from Doctor Who to EastEnders. The couple’s song choices were revealed by the broadcasting company earlier in the week.

On Instagram, Helen shared a snap of her children playing with Blue Peter memorabilia, hinting at their potential use in the upcoming live show.

Speaking with Claudia Winklemen, the presenter asked Helen about the theme tune that she described as ‘very close’ to the star’s heart and an ’emotional’ choice.

Helen said: “What is better than a job where your only purpose is to excite kids about the world? That was my job for seven years, you are going to be so bored of me going on about it.”

Both Helen and Gorka have been training in Penrith for the Strictly live shows and the star was recently spotted at Keswick’s Alhambra Cinema.

This week, the duo have been quiet on social media ahead of their dance, but shared a quick video on Wednesday to reassure fans that training was going well.
