A Lake District hotel has sold for over £1 million following its former owner’s retirement.
The 15-bedroom Rothay Garth Hotel in Ambleside has sold for the price of £1,175,000 to husband and wife team Andy Miles and Serena von der Heyde of Your Place Ltd.
The hotel had been under the ownership of Simon Clark since 2019 and will now be taken over by Andy who is the investor, and owner of Your Place.
Andy said: “I am very much looking forward to this new venture working with Serena and our team, building on the quality and reputation they have established. My family live locally so the area holds a special place in my heart.
“I am excited to open the doors to customers old and new, and I look forward to providing memorable experiences in this great central location. We have exciting refurbishment plans for the future and look forward to sharing more details on this as we go into the new year.”
Constructed of traditional Lakeland stone, the Victorian property currently trades as a 15-bedroom bed and breakfast with owners’ accommodation, overlooking tennis courts, a bowling green, and landscaped gardens.
The building also undertook considerable refurbishment under previous owner Simon Clark who recently received an award for Visit England 4-Star Quality Bed and Breakfast Refurbishment.
Andy is working in partnership with Serena, and the teams of Victorian House in Grasmere and Georgian House in London.
The sale has been announced through global commercial real estate firm Colliers.
