People are invited to take part in the Great Cumbrian Litter Pick this month.

Organised by conservation charity Friends of the Lake District, it takes place on Friday November 18 and Saturday November 19.

Last year, 75 litter picks took place as part of the event and people collected over 500 bags of rubbish.

Friends of the Lake District said: “We hope to continue this amazing effort this year and to bring people together to take community action for a cleaner Cumbria.

“At the end of 2020, following the surge in litter during lockdown, we commissioned Keep Britain Tidy to undertake research into why people litter and recommending actions that we can trial to influence behaviour change.

“There’s no quick and easy solution to the litter problem but while we work on ways to educate and communicate more widely and effectively to change behaviours, there is something that we can do right away; and that’s to get out there and clean up.”

Anyone can take part in The Great Cumbrian Litter Pick either by registering their own community or individual litter pick here.

Or people can join an organised pick – to find one near you, click here.

The Great Cumbrian Litter Pick 2022 is sponsored by The North Face Explore Fund and EOCA, the European Outdoor Conservation Association.
