A woman has admitted possessing heroin and cannabis with intent to supply the illegal drugs in the Workington area.
Sophie Louise Porter, 25, faced a total of three charges when she appeared at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today.
Porter admitted the possession both of class A controlled substance heroin and class B cannabis with intent to supply them to another. She also pleaded guilty to possession of criminal property, namely cash.
All three offences were committed on December 17 2020, and relate to the Workington area.
The court heard Porter’s guilty pleas were entered on a formal basis — that she was under pressure at that time due to a drug debt and, said her lawyer, Sean Harkin, that there was not any significant financial gain made from the activity.
The prosecution will consider this basis and respond in due course.
In the meantime, Judge Nicholas Barker ordered the preparation of a probation service pre-sentence report. Porter, of Helena Terrace, Bishop Auckland, was granted unconditional bail and will be sentenced by a judge at the crown court on a future date.
- A 33-year-old man who has pleaded not guilty to the same three charges is due to stand trial in front of a jury at Carlisle Crown Court in March. He is said to deny any involvement in the supply of heroin or cannabis.
