A woman was taken to hospital following a collision in Workington.
It was reported at about 3.30pm yesterday, November 17, and involved a female pedestrian and a car.
The woman, in her 40s, was taken to Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary.
Police and ambulance crews attended the scene at Honister Drive. The Great North Air Ambulance’s critical care team were also in attendance.
The road was closed between Mossbay Road and Wastwater Avenue until late evening.
The woman is in a critical but stable condition in hospital, police said today, November 18.
The driver of the vehicle, a local man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence. He has been released under police bail.
The road was closed for a number of hours while investigations took place.
