It’s a crunch week for two clubs scrapping to survive in Regional 2 North as they clash at Warwick Road.
Carlisle only have a point to show for their efforts so far and are rock bottom, needing a big turn around over the second half of the season to stand any survival chance.
On Saturday they host Keswick precariously placed third from bottom and only a point ahead of fellow strugglers Stockton.
But Keswick have won three games so far and have put up a couple of decent efforts against the better sides, including leaders Morpeth.
This game is sure to be keenly contested with Carlisle believing they can collect their first win of the season and Keswick feeling that if they bring their A game with them they can earn a vital victory.
Much will depend on team selection. Carlisle have undergone a host of injury problems throughout the season so far while Keswick have front row issues ahead of this one.
At the other end of the table Penrith have already proved their worth with a win at table leaders Morpeth whom they currently trail by just two points.
The Winters Park side will feel that they can pick up more points on the road as they visit Consett who are fourth bottom.
Aspatria moved significantly up the table last week after a 38-20 home win over Stockton and now lead “League Two – the bottom six” in a table which is distinctly divided.
They have a very interesting trip to Percy Park as their hosts sit bottom of the top six, seven points better off than the Black Reds.
In the Cumbria League the top game is likely to be the west Cumbrian derby between Egremont and St. Benedict’s.
Leaders Upper Eden travel to Creighton while Cockermouth v Whitehaven could be an interesting contest.
The programme is completed by Workington v Wigton and Hawcoat Park v Penrith 11s.
