Creative fun and yuletide magic awaits families in Barrow as A BarrowFull of Christmas launches this weekend.

Twelve experiences exploring the gifts from the 12 Days of Christmas will be ready for the public to discover, spread across Barrow Park and The Dock Museum.

The trail will be open from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday December 3, Sunday December 4, Wednesday December 7, Saturday December 10 and Sunday December 11 and is free to attend.

Professional artists Sara Blackburn, who has worked on Blackpool’s SHOWZAM! and Manchester PRIDE; award-winning filmmaker Andy Taylor Smith, and ecology and rural-architect Zoe Quick have worked with local community groups to create the festive journey for families and individuals, with each stop on the route celebrating one of the 12 gifts ‘my true love gave to me’ at Christmas.

The BarrowFull team is keen that everyone in Barrow can attend, and is providing a free accessible taxi service for anyone who needs transport.

The service can be pre-booked from any address within Barrow town by emailing info@barrowfull.org.uk or phoning 07840 730521. There is also a free shuttle bus that will be running between the sites, starting from the Town Hall courtyard at 10.30am. Full details can be found on the BarrowFull facebook page.

Natalie Bowers, producer, said: “This is one of Barrow’s many happy opportunities to come out and celebrate the festive season. Bring your family and friends – it will be a great way to create long-lasting memories at this time of year and we know it will bring smiles to many faces.”

Everything to discover will be undercover but visitors are encouraged to wrap up warm and dry to walk between the different locations. The cafes at both Barrow Park and the Dock Museum will be open to the public throughout.

The installations are sponsored by BAE Systems and include creative artworks, multimedia and interactive experiences.
