Emergency services had to be called after two people entered a South Cumbrian reservoir to rescue their dog.
The dog became stuck in Ormsgill Reservoir in Barrow and its adult owners tried to rescue the animal.
Police and fire crews from Barrow, Walney and Ulverston Blue Light Hub were called.
The people managed to get themselves to safety before emergency services arrived.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Please think twice about going into frozen or icy open bodies of water to rescue animals. Instead, call 999 straight away and ask for the emergency services to assist you.

“Frozen water might look safe to walk on or enter, but don’t risk it – you could easily fall through and need rescued yourself or go into cold water shock.”
