Temporary traffic light

Roadworks will be in place in Currock for most of this month as resurfacing work is carried out.

Contractors will move into Currock Road, between Currock Park Avenue and Red Bank Terrace, this week to dig trial trenches.

There will be a two-way temporary traffic light system in operation until Friday, and will be removed over the weekend before phase two of the work begins on Monday, January 16.

A road closure will be in place from Monday, January 16 to Tuesday, January 24 on Currock Road.

During this time, residents are asked not to park on Currock Road between Red Bank Terrace and Currock Park Avenue and will need to find alternate parking arrangements.

A signed diversion will be in place throughout Phase 2 via St Nicholas, Botchergate, English Street, Victoria Viaduct, James Street and the unrestricted section of Currock Road.

Access will not be affected to businesses along Currock Road however deliveries will have to follow the diversion route provided.

Residents will be able to access their properties on foot, but if they encounter any problems, they are advised to liaise with the site staff or contact the Highways Hotline at 0300 303 2992.

Access for emergency vehicles will be permitted through the closure points during the works.

Cumbria County Council said it would like to thank the community for their continued support and patience while the highway network is improved and apologised for any inconvenience caused by the improvements.
