
Police have launched an investigation after a school pupil was followed by a man in Barrow.
The pupil was walking down Hawcoat Lane between 7.45am and 8.20am on January 9 when she was followed by the man. He did not make physical contact but the incident caused her distress.
The man was described as white, about 30 years of age, of medium build, with dark brown, frizzy hair. He was wearing a brown waterproof jacket.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to help identify the man.
Police are not aware of any other similar incidents in the area but are asking people to always consider personal safety while mornings and evenings remain dark.
Parents are also being asked to ensure their children know how to keep themselves safe, including calling police.
