Cumbrian food firm Cranstons raised over £2,800 for charity thanks to its festive fundraising.

The company raised £2,806 for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland.

Elizabeth Leeming, president of Hospice at Home accepted the cheque from Martin Jones, Cranstons MD.

Cranstons has a long association with Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland and actively fundraises for the charity each festive season.

A raffle raised £1,220 and the additional cash came from Cranstons charity Christmas puddings – 50p was donated for each pudding sold – and from collection tins at the tills throughout the year.

Mr Jones said: “We are always blown away by the generosity of our suppliers and customers when we fundraise for this wonderful charity and this year was no exception.

“Sincere thanks go to the many Cumbrian suppliers who kindly donated prizes and to each and every customer who purchased a raffle ticket, a Christmas pudding or popped change in one of our collection tills throughout the year.”

Ms Leeming added: “On behalf of all at Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland, I would like say a very big thank you to Cranstons and to all their suppliers and customers for their commitment to the charity. The sums raised from the festive fundraising activity 2022 are fantastic! The generosity of all concerned is particularly appreciated in these uncertain times.

‘’In this, the charity’s 25th anniversary year, I would also like to pay tribute to the loyalty shown by all at Cranstons over the years.

“In the Charity’s earliest days, the late Bunty Cranston was a dedicated supporter.  The ongoing support provided by the Cranston family and all in Team Cranston is highly valued. It makes a significant difference to the charity’s ability to provide the palliative care services that are so needed when someone in a local family is facing a life-limiting illness’’

Along with the Christmas fund-raising, Cranstons gives annual profit related donations to Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, Tynedale Hospice at Home, The Great North Air Ambulance and Carlisle Youth Zone.
