Two people die in A66 crash

Two people have died in a collision in Workington.

The incident happened between the Bridgefoot roundabout and Stainburn roundabout, near Workington.

It was reported at about 5.55pm yesterday, February 13, and involved a blue Renault Clio and a red Volkswagen Golf.

Two people in the Clio – a man and a woman – were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Golf, a man, was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with serious injuries. He is in a critical condition today.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
