Detectives conducting a Carlisle rape investigation have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to identify.

Officers were called to the incident on Sunday at 12.10am.

Police want to identify the man pictured as part of their enquiries. He is described as wearing dark clothing and carrying a bag across his body.

It is believed that the man walked through Denton Holme in Carlisle at approximately 10.30pm on Saturday, February 11.

Cumbria police said: “We would encourage anyone with information that may assist with identifying this man to contact us, we would also encourage the man to contact us himself.”

Detective Sergeant Stephen Kidd said “Detectives have been carrying out a number of enquiries since receiving the report including house-to-house and viewing CCTV.

“Anyone with information regarding the incident or can identify the man is asked to get in touch.

“We are continuing to support the victim throughout this investigation, and the public will continue to see a police presence into the weekend with the safety of the public paramount.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police by reporting online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it or call 101 quoting incident number 3 of 12 February.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
