Barrow Raiders Ladies coach Amanda Wilkinson has praised the efforts of her squad in preparing for the new Super League season.

After announcing the squad numbers for the 2023 campaign she said: “The squad is looking in great shape.

“Pre-season has gone really well, and our strength and conditioner Steve Hartle has worked really hard with the players, setting team and individual programs for them to work on.

“It’s been tough and challenging at times, but credit to the girls – they have stuck in and are starting to see and feel the gains.

“We’ve added quite a few new players to the squad, and it’s been great to have the time to work with them and get them integrated.”

The Raiders will once again be skippered by Jodie Litherland, with Emily Stirzaker becoming the team’s first-ever vice-captain. They will continue to wear their respective seven and four shirts.

Following her mid-season promotion from the club’s reserve side, Charlotte Todhunter has impressed enough to be handed the starting number two shirt.

Fellow winger Sam Norman moves to shirt number five, while front-rower Hannah Sherlock has been promoted to wear number eight and Leah Cottier swaps nine for three.

There are also a number of new faces in the 27-woman squad ahead of the new season. Bethan Lloyd, who became the club’s first signing of pre-season after impressing during the open trials, will wear number 21.

The returning Jodie Morley will wear 22, while Cerys Rice has been handed the 23 shirt following her promotion from the Raiders’ reserve team.

Fellow new arrivals Laura Mellen and India Jackson have been given squad numbers 28 and 27.

The squad is: 1 Michelle Larkin; 2 Charlotte Todhunter; 3 Leah Cottier; 4 Emily Stirzaker; 5 Sam Norman; 6 Bethany Pattinson; 7 Jodie Litherland; 8 Hannah Sherlock; 9 Beth Lindsay; 10 Kerrie-Ann Smith; 11 Claire Hutchinson; 12 Vanessa Temple; 13 Demi Fisher; 14 Mia Dobson; 15 Kelly Friend; 16, Louise Clarke; 17 Amy Sunderland; 18 Emma Hutchinson; 19 Meagen Byers; 20 Leah Clough; 21 Bethan Lloyd; 22 Jodie Morley; 23 Cerys Rice;  24 Alice Rush; 25 Nat Saunders; 27 India Jackson; 28 Laura Mellen.

Barrow have also confirmed that Christina Tully, Kate Birchall, Sarah Wilkinson, Molly Wernham, Aimee Sharp, Liv Sykes and Abbie O’Brien have all left Barrow Raiders Ladies.
