
A man has been found dead on the Cumbria Coast railway line near Barrow.
The incident took place on the line in Askham-in-Furness at 7.14am after reports of a person on the tracks.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Paramedics also attended however sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are working to establish the full circumstances behind the man’s death.”
National Rail said trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised until 11am.
Routes between Barrow, Maryport and Carlisle and Lancaster and Manchester Airport are affected.
Trains from Barrow to Carlisle are also currently terminating at Million and starting at Silecroft.
Road transport has been requested.
