Doncaster have added to their squad ahead of Sunday’s Challenge Cup-tie at home to Workington Town.
Jack Potter, a 19-year-old half-back with Super League side Hull KR has been signed on a short-term loan deal.
It seems likely that Potter will go straight into the match day squad as cover because regular starters Ben Johnston and Connor Robinson have played almost every minute of the 2023 campaign so far.
Although initially just for two weeks the deal could be extended and Potter has already spent a short time this season with Championship side Newcastle Thunder.
Head coach Richard Horne said: “Jack will come in and add some cover for us. Having had three games we’ve obviously had a couple of bumps and bruises so we may look to rest one or two.
“He’s had a little stint up at Newcastle and experienced the standards there, so we felt it was a good fit to bring him in and add to what we’ve got available.”
Potter joined the Hull KR Academy last July and at the time his first coach at the club Jason Netherton said: “Jack is a really good example of resilience and perseverance.
“He’s had some set-backs in his short career, but he has really dug in over the last year or so and worked extremely hard at his game.
“He’s a little dynamo who plays with loads of energy and enthusiasm.”
