Barrow Raiders Ladies have announced two pre-season friendlies as they prepare for the 2023 Betfred Women’s Super League campaign.

The first friendly will be on Sunday 19 March, away to Salford and this will form part of a celebration of rugby for the Red Devils, with their men’s, women’s PDRL and reserves sides all featuring on the same day.

This will be followed by a further fixture at home to Wigan Warriors, taking place at the beginning of April.

Amanda Wilkinson’s side will begin their 2023 league campaign with a trip to Featherstone Rovers on Sunday 16 April. Their Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup campaign will then begin seven days later at home to the newly-named York Valkyrie.

Tickets for the Wigan friendly cost £5 and will be available to purchase at the turnstiles. Throughout the 2023 campaign, Barrow Ladies tickets will also cost £5 for all league and cup games, unless stated otherwise. These will be pay-on-the-gate only.

Discussing their pre-season schedule, Barrow Raiders Ladies head coach Amanda Wilkinson said: “I’m looking forward to preparing the players for our friendlies.

“It will be good to watch the players perform as we have a few players fighting for position in order to be in that starting 17, come our first fixture.

“We have a lot to work on and areas to improve, and the friendlies will be a great opportunity for us to test and measure where we are and where we need to get to before the start of the season.

“It’s such an exciting time. I love pre-season and the friendlies – it’s all about challenges, changes, playing and coaching the unknown.

“We’ll face two quite different teams in Salford and Wigan, and hopefully it’ll provide a great experience for myself, my coaching staff and the players in preparation for the season ahead.”
