The A66 is closed near Keswick following a collision.
The incident was reported at 6.20am.
The road was closed both ways due to the incident between A591, Crossthwaite Roundabout, and the Castlerigg turn-off but the westbound lane has now reopened to traffic.
This morning, the police said Shap is just about passable due to snow and the A591 between Thirlmere and Grasmere was experiencing heavy traffic due to snow.
The A66 is shut between Brough and Scotch Corner.
