Three men charged after two cannabis farms were found in Carlisle on the same day have appeared at the city’s crown court.
Police visited a property at Pennine Way in Harraby on February 17. They found more than 300 cannabis plants with an estimated potential yield value of between £90,000 and £274,000.
The plants are said to have been in various stages of growth within a cannabis farm which was situated throughout the two-storey residential address.
Two men, aged 26 and 27, were arrested and appeared at Carlisle Crown Court this morning. During a short hearing in front of one judge, the men both said “no, not guilty” when the allegation of class B cannabis production was put to each of them.
Also on February 17, a cannabis farm was found inside an address at Crummock Street, off Wigton Road.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and at the city’s crown court this morning in front of a different judge he pleaded not guilty to a charge which also alleges cannabis production.
He is due to stand trial in front of a jury from July 31.
Meanwhile the two men charged in relation to the separate Pennine Way case are due to go on trial earlier in that month, on July 10.
In the meantime in both cases, the three defendants have been remanded in custody.
