Eagerly awaited Sunday league clash for Northside and Scotby

All of the scheduled games in the Workington and District Sunday League were called off at the weekend.

Pitches had suffered from the persistent rain and those which should have staged league fixtures were called off.

Only two games are down to be played this Sunday – but one is an eagerly-awaited Sunday County Cup semi-final at Curwen Park between Northside and Scotby.

While Northside had an enforced rest at the weekend Scotby were beating Unisun Athletic 3-2 in a Carlisle City Sunday League Premier Division fixture.

Scotby sit fifth in the League with six wins, a draw and seven defeats from their 14 games so far.

League leaders Inter Pirelli, the Sunday County Cup holders, have only lost once in 14 games so far and on Sunday play the other County Cup semi-final at Denton Holme.

On Sunday, fourth-placed Denton Holme beat Brampton 4-2 in the League and are level on points with Scotby.

It all points to a Northside v Inter Pirelli final – but you never know!

There is one Workington Sunday League game scheduled for the weekend – Dearham Commercial v Sun Inn Athletic.
