Work is set to begin to improve sports pitches in West Cumbria.
Fencing will be erected and groundwork will start at the pitches near the former Moorclose leisure centre in Workington.
The new fencing is being erected to help prevent dog fouling and litter, including broken glass, being left on the pitches and provide an area for safe storage of equipment for clubs.
It is being carried out by contractors on behalf of the former Allerdale council – which has now been dissolved and is part of Cumberland Council – and is being paid for through the Sellafield Social Impact funding.
Local residents are being asked to stay away from the immediate area where the work is being carried out. Access to the wider area will be maintained for those who use it for walking their dogs or recreation.
