The Cumbria branch of The Masonic Fishing charity spent two days this week at Lupton, near Kendal with the children of Sandgate School, helping them enjoy fishing and experiencing the outdoor experience in a safe setting.
It allows the children with additional needs to meet new challenges, provide a stimulating fishing experience, and achieve tangible results to take away.
Neil Dixon, of Cumbria Freemasons, said: “The children had a wonderful day, with some excellent fish that were caught, it brought joy to the whole team, children and visitors that attended the event.”
The charity is part of Cumbria Freemasons and is completely ran by volunteers, it’s a non-profit making enterprise and is organised and hosted by Freemasons.
Neil added: “The Masonic Fishing Charity’s aim is to bring an interactive fishing and countryside experience to people and children with additional needs.
“We want to help others, who would not normally have the opportunity, and to share and benefit from the pleasure that fishing in natural surroundings can bring.
“Charity is an integral part of the core principles of Freemasonry and the fishing events that we organise are part of our personal commitment to working in the community.”
