Opening date revealed for Workington’s TK Maxx store

Workington’s new TK Maxx store will open its doors in August.

The fashion and homeware retailer lodged planning applications with Cumberland Council last month for advertising signs to transform the exterior of the building – which was formerly home to the town’s Debenhams.

A 15-year lease was signed by the chain in January for some of the store and work has been underway since to convert part of the Washington Square unit.

The firm will take over 22,500 sq ft of the building. It is not known what will happen with the rest of the store.

It is recruiting for staff now and an event will be held at Workington’s JobCentre on May 25.
