Egremont Post Office set to reopen in new location

Egremont is set to regain its Post Office this summer.

The Post Office have announced the Egremont branch will reopen on August 9 this year in the Egremont Travel building – less than 30 meters away from its old location.

The town’s main store, which was part of a McColls store, closed back in January after Morrisons, who own the chain, decided to close down the McColls the post office was part of.

A spokesperson said: “We are delighted to let you know that following a temporary closure of Egremont Post Office we will be reopening the branch in a new location.”

Customers will be able to access Post Office services at a low-screened, open-plan serving point that’s part of the retail counter.

Working with postmaster, the firm will adapt the current store layout, fixtures and fittings to accommodate the Post Office till if needed.

While the decision has been made to reopen the branch, the firm added that they are welcoming views on access at the new location via an online questionnaire.

The new premises will have a wide door and a step at the entrance and the same products and services will be available.
