Two burglars found hiding in a Barrow shop during a break-in have been sent to prison.

Ryan Goulding, 35, of Montague Street, Barrow and Ross Johnson, 26, also of Montague Street, Barrow were both sentenced today to 20 weeks each for burglary at Barrow Magistrates Court.

The burglary took place in the early hours of yesterday, June 5.

Police received a call shortly after 3am that two men had climbed into the rear of a premises on Dalton Road, Barrow, removing a board to gain access.

The items taken by Johnson and Goulding were seen discarded in a recycling bin outside the building.

Officers arrived on scene and arrested Johnson and Goulding who were still inside the premises hiding when officers entered.

After the pair were sentenced, Detective Constable Alex Brown said: “We will act against those that target local businesses.

“We will not tolerate any burglaries of any kind of properties. Those who engage in these crimes can expect to face a police investigation and prosecution.

“This case is an example of how quick our investigation teams can work; identifying suspects bringing them to justice.”
