Cumbria’s young Development side were given a sharp lesson in their game at Bignall End, heavily beaten by Staffordshire’s Senior Development X1.

In their 50 overs Staffordshire reached 265-5 with strong contributions from Gurjot Singh (66) and Callum Hawkins (49).

Then at the end there was an unbroken stand of 73 by Hasan Ahmed (40no) and Sam Atkinson (39no).

Regan Jackson of Gateshead Fell had the bet figures of 1-30 from his seven overs.

Cumbria just never threatened after losing their most experienced batsman, skipper Nathan Waterston for ten.

Evan Williams (39) was largely responsible for Cumbria reaching 76-5 before he was out.

It left only notable contributions from last out James Bowman (24) and Declan Tyson (17) before they were bowled-out for 122.

Matthew Morris was Staffordshire’s most successful bowler taking 3-26.
