A group of youngsters from Carlisle rugby union club are still pinching themselves after a day out at Twickenham.
The club’s under-12s visited the home of England rugby recently as a consequence of receiving the Newcastle Falcons Festival Cup as the team that demonstrated the best values of rugby.
The young Cumbrians had a fun-packed day, meeting a number of England players, enjoying the Gallagher Premiership Rugby final between Saracens and Sale and taking part in a parade around the Twickenham turf.
There were 15 winning teams (U11 and U12) from competitions around England. The day started with a photo with Ellis Genge and George North, followed by a Q&A with Henry Arundell, during which Toby Nugent received a medal from Henry for receiving the nomination of player of the season.
The atmosphere was excellent, topped off by walking around the pitch at half time in front of 70,000 fans.
A club spokesman said: “It was a great achievement by the team and a great day out for all who were able to attend. It was certainly a day which won’t be forgotten.”
