Shoppers queued from 6am to be first inside home and fashion retailer Joe Browns’ new Lake District store.
The 2,500 sq ft building is in Bowness-on-Windermere’s Queens Square and it is the first franchise store for the firm which has partnered with retail entrepreneurs Adrian and Julie North.
Dozens of people – and some dogs – queued early on Saturday morning to get their hands on a goodie bag and see inside and shop at the new store that sells boho-inspired menswear, womenswear and homewares.
Deputy Windermere Mayor Lisa Greasly, Joe Browns CEO Peter Alecock and franchisee owners Adrian and Julie also attended the opening event.
A spokesman for Joe Browns Bowness said: “Wow, what a wonderful Bowness-on-Windermere welcome. We had people queueing from 6.00am with folk travelling from as far as Shropshire, Nottingham and even Edinburgh.
“It resulted in a bumper weekend and we wanted to say a huge thank to everyone who came along.”
The store has two floors and the interior is vibrantly coloured and eclectic in its decoration, featuring a statement chandelier, bold patterned wallpaper and bright neon lights that match the brand’s style.
