Youngsters celebrating the end of their exams in a Lake District town prompted police to act in a bid to stop anti-social behaviour.
A dispersal order was put in place for the eastern shoreline of Windermere from Fellfoot to Ambleside yesterday.
Police said it followed a ‘number’ of instances of anti-social behaviour.
South Lakes Police said: “We have a number of young people who appear to be celebrating the end of their exam periods, gathered on the shoreline. We hope that, in time, they will reap the rewards of their efforts but we encouraged them to be mindful of their activities.”
Under the order, if officers suspect a person – or group of people – are causing or are likely to cause crime, nuisance or anti-social behaviour to other members of the public, they can direct them to leave a designated area and not return for up to 48 hours. A person who disregards a direction to leave commits an offence.
The dispersal order expired today, June 17, at 8am.
