Carlisle City have added a couple of new players to their squad after announcing the return of winger Rob McCartney.
Jack Dickinson, a centre-half, who has been playing for the last four years in Scotland, and former Carlisle United youngster Roan Steele, who has been released by Annan, have joined the Gillford Park club.
Manager Jim Nichols said: “I think they are all great additions to our squad and will make us stronger for next season.
“Rob is a very good finisher and I am confident that we will be able to create chances for him.
“I had Jack with me at Penrith when he was just a young lad and since then he’s had two good years over the Border with Dalbeattie Star and another good two years with Gretna.
“He’s very composed on the ball and good in the year and really it was a no-brainer when I found out he was available.

“Roan played with a lot of the lads I have here when they were at Carlisle United and he’s a player we’ve had our eyes on for a while when we realised he wasn’t getting the game time he would have liked. He will bring good competition to the back line and as an added bonus he has an unbelievably long throw.”
Steele, 20, had 11 starts in the Scottish Division Two last season but was mainly on the bench for the closing weeks of the season.
Dickinson, 25, started 32 games for Gretna in the Lowland League as he enjoyed a third spell with the club after originally starting with Carlisle United Under-15’s and then Queen of the South Under-20’s before joining Penrith in 2015.
