Former Super League referee Gareth Hewer takes charge of a Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL game tonight.
It helps increase the number of officials available and subsequently the five-match CARL programme will be played tonight.
Hewer will officiate in the game between Kells A and Glasson Rangers which potentially could be the tightest of the five games being staged.
Senior referee Neil Byers has an interesting game to cover at Gillfoot where Egremont Rangers A entertain Cockermouth Titans, who have been showing good form of late and last week clinched their place in the Firpress Printers Cumberland Cup final.
Their opponents in that game will be League champions Distington who visit Hensingham tonight in a game to be controlled by Rob Scott.
There’s a town derby on the agenda with Ellenborough A hosting Maryport and the visitors will want to get back int winning mode after a heart-breaking golden point loss to Cockermouth in the Cumberland Cup semi-final. Mike Burgess will referee.
The fifth League game will see Wath Brow A hosting Lowca and Trevor Dryden will officiate.
