Jake Young, who spent the second-half of last season on loan with Barrow, has now gone on a season-long loan to Swindon Town.
The 22-year-old forward was regularly in Pete Wild’s squad but only made five starts for the Bluebirds.
His parent club Bradford City brought him in from Forest Green in May, 2022 for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.
It looked smart business when he scored twice in his opening games against Barrow and Walsall in the League, as well as a brace against Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Trophy.
But ir proved a false dawn for after playing in seven of City’s first eight league games manager Mark Hughes did not select him again for another.
It had been a promising start but he wasn’t given the chance again and found himself at Barrow in January.
No opportunities emerged at Valley Parade this time round in pre-season friendlies and he wasn’t included in City’s pre-season’s trip to Spain. He was even included in a squad of teenagers who played Bradford PA in a friendly.
Young, who came through the Guiseley and Sheffield United academies, was a popular signing when he joined City last summer, having played his part in Forest Green’s promotion to League One in 2021-22.
It was reported earlier in the summer that Young had allegedly been told he could leave the club in the summer even though he had two years left on his contract.
Manager Hughes then revealed recently that Young had actually turned down chances to leave the club.
Now it seems he has accepted the chance to recharge his career with Swindon.
