Ahead of their final NCCA Championship game of the season, Cumbria are in danger of finishing bottom of the Eastern Division.
They travel to Peterborough this weekend to play Cambridgeshire needing nothing short of a win to avoid the wooden spoon position.
Going into the three-dayer they currently sit last, 21 points behind Northumberland and there are a maximum of 24 points available from the final game.
But it isn’t looking good as Cumbria have only secured one batting bonus point all season, and a continuation of that would mean the points tally would not be secured.
Cambridgeshire won the last time the two sides met in this competition at Barrow CC last year, and have the better head-to-head record, with Cumbria only winning seven out of the 32 previous encounters, whilst losing 10. Fifteen have been drawn or abandoned.
Cambridgeshire one point ahead of Northumberland field a team including Wayne White (ex-Lancashire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire) and Aadil Ali (ex Leicestershire) who between them have played in over 100 first class games.
Both Callum Guest and Alex Peirson have scored hundreds this year in the earlier matches in the championship.
Cumbria make one enforced change with Gary Pratt being unavailable due to club commitments and Ben Walkden returns after he had to miss out last week because of his club commitments.
The line-ups are as follow:
Cambridgeshire: Wayne White (Sawston & Babraham), Will Routledge (Bury St Edmunds), Aadil Ali (Kibworth), Callum Guest (Sawston & Babraham), Alex Peirson (Saffron Walden), Dan Andrew (Wollaton), Lee Thomason (Sutton Coldfield), Ben Clilverd (Sawston & Babraham), Danny Mohammed (Brigstock), Harrison Craig (Oundle), Mark Smith (Bury St Edmunds)
Cumbria: Michael Slack (Carlisle, capt), Freddie Fallows (Kendal), Ben Walkden (Newton-le-WIllows), Ben Davidson (Carlisle), Sam Dutton (Furness), Matthew Sempill (Cockermouth), Greg Cameron (Penrith), Ed Moulton (Chorley), Nico Watt (Carlisle), Drew Postlethwaite (Haverigg wk), Matthew Siddall (Cockermouth).
Play is scheduled to start at 11am on Sunday, continuing on Monday and Tuesday.
