
Six fire crews spent over five hours tackling an industrial building blaze in north Cumbria last night.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service was called to the site, near the A596 at Wigton yesterday to deal with the incident.
Crews attended from Wigton, Silloth, Aspatria, Penrith, Carlisle and Cockermouth and were in attendance for five-and-a-half hours.
An aerial ladder platform, the joint command unit and a water bowser were also sent to the scene.
The fire involved an industrial premises used as workshop and included various cylinders.
The county’s police force was also called to help the fire service.
Residents in the Woodside Park and Station Hill areas and those living near the area of Wigton Hospital were advised to keep their windows closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Motorists were also warned there could be partial or full road closures last night as firefighters tackled the blaze.
