- Saturday August 26: 9am-6pm.
- Sunday August 27: 10am-5pm.
- Bank Holiday Monday, August 28: 10am-5pm.
The event will include a selection of arts, crafts, unique gifts and local traders.
For food lovers, there will be a tempting selection of continental and international flavours to sample, including Spanish paella, Greek gyros, a new Greek vegan deli, Chinese, Indian, Polish, German, and other street foods.
There will also be fresh foods including olives, British cheeses and chutneys, cakes, salami and pick and mix sweets.
The Box Bar will also be on site serving cold beers and other beverages.
Green fingered shoppers will not be disappointed either as the market will include a Dutch plant seller.
Andy Pidgen, Market Place Europe’s operations manager, said: “Carlisle is a special place for Market Place Europe and the warm welcome we receive from local people and visitors alike is always amazing, it’s always great that so many local Carlisle and Cumbrian traders join us alongside our fantastic international traders, there is always something for everyone to enjoy at this fantastic market in the wonderful city of Carlisle.”
An ancient proclamation will be recited at the Market Cross on Saturday, August 26 at 10am. The proclamation is a declaration of Carlisle’s rights to hold an annual fair in August, originally granted to the citizens of the city in 1352 by Edward III.
A procession including the mayor of Carlisle Abdul Harid, the chair of Cumberland Council, Carni McCarron-Holmes, sword and mace Bearers and other civic dignitaries will make its way from the Old Town Hall to the Market Cross in the city centre.
