Why the University of Cumbria is the right choice for a bright future

It’s an exciting time for the University of Cumbria.

From world-class academics and leading industry connections to campus developments and so much more, we’re committed to delivering inspirational, inclusive, and accessible higher education to our students and local communities.

If your child is thinking about going to university, there are many reasons for them to start their story at Cumbria.

Inspiring the next generation

With five campuses covering Carlisle, Lancaster, Ambleside, and London, we pride ourselves on taking inspiration from our roots to educate and nurture the next generation.

Thanks to our exciting plans to build new campuses in Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness, we’re helping to attract and train more talented graduates than ever before in Cumbria.

As part of our upcoming Barrow campus, we’re adding Advanced Manufacturing and Computer Science degrees to our diverse portfolio.

Designed in partnership with BAE Systems, these innovative programmes are aligned with the needs of local employers and will offer our students fantastic career opportunities in evolving sectors.

Providing a personalised education

At Cumbria, we place people at the heart of everything we do. We offer the facilities of a larger university within a more intimate setting, allowing our expert academics to get to know their students on a personal level.

Our students are never just numbers; our lecturers know them by name. Each one receives the bespoke mentoring and support they need to start their futures with confidence.

Helping students realise their potential

We are passionate about sharing knowledge and hope to have a long-lasting impact in the region and beyond. Novuna Business Cash Flow recently named us one of the top institutions in the UK to have company founders among its alumni, while an impressive 97 per cent of our graduates go into employment or further education within 15 months of graduating (HESA, 2023).

Supporting students with the cost of living

It’s important to us that we can support our students during their time at university.

That’s why we have offered an Enhanced Student Support Package to all students who are starting or returning to their studies in September 2023.

The package, which includes wellbeing services, professional learning opportunities, free IT essentials has been designed to help with rising living costs and can be tailored to each student’s unique needs and lifestyle.
