Fleetwood Town are preparing an approach for Barrow manager Pete Wild, it is being reported.
The League One side on the look out for a new manager after Scott Brown was sacked over the weekend.
Football Insider say sources have told them the side are planning to target Wild.
The former Scotland international Brown had retired from playing when he was appointed as manager last summer and he kept the Cod Army in the division.
But the start to the present campaign has been poor as they failed to win any of their opening six league games.
They drew at Carlisle in the opening game but have lost five in a row since then to sit next to bottom.
They have no game this weekend so have that little bit of extra time to get the man they want.
Former Leeds United coach Karl Robinson was considered to be the main contender early in the week but now, according to the Football Insider, Barrow’s Pete Wild could be the man.
Wild was already starting to make a name for himself at Halifax when Barrow lured him to south Cumbria and he hasn’t let them down.
They were strong challengers last season until falling away to finish ninth but before he took over the Bluebirds had been scrambling to stay out of the bottom two.
They have started the new season well and currently sit fourth and with Barrow operating on one of the lowest budgets in League Two his work there will certainly be admired by Fleetwood.
One stumbling block could be the length of the contract Wild signed with Barrow shortly after taking over last season.
