A major blaze at a West Cumbrian haulage firm’s yard was not suspicious said fire chiefs.
Emergency services were called to Distington, between Whitehaven and Workington, on September 15 at around 11.30pm after people spotted the fire in haulage firm Tyson H Burridge’s yard behind Main Street.
Firefighters spent several hours on the scene.
As firefighters tackled the blaze, people from nearby homes were evacuated and roads were closed by police.
Today, Ian Seel, area manager for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Our preliminary fire investigation has discounted any suspicious circumstances regarding the cause of the fire in Distington.
“We believe that the fire was accidental and originated within a HGV parked on the site.”
