Muncaster Castle’s famous Halloween week is now in full swing and proving a monster hit with visitors.
Hundreds of people have descended upon the site to celebrate the season and watch live performances in one of the UK’s most haunted places.
By day, the Halloween week – which has been running for 20 years – remains a spooky family friendly day out, but once evening draws in on Friday and Saturday evenings, a Purge-style siren sounds alongside canons to signal that Scarecaster has begun.
One of the stars of this year’s festival is a ten foot tall monster puppet created by designer Naomi Parker which appears in the castle’s new family-friendly Frankenstein Castle Tour show.
Alongside the hugely popular family-friendly show – is the wider festival which includes entertainers, a spooky maze, parade, live music, food from around the world and more.
Visitors have been donning Halloween outfits all week so far and attendees are encouraged to keep dressing up as the week goes on.
Scarecaster – the week’s adults-only horror event – is on on Friday and Saturday night, with it’s main immersive poltergeist performance ‘The Vanishing’ taking place over additional dates.
The popular twilight owls display has also been going ahead all week alongside the seven deadly screams maze, where live actors jump out and terrify those brave enough to take it on.
Tickets are still available for those looking for a last minute half term day out.
