Police in Barrow have been targeting anti-social behaviour this week, in an operation to coincide with half term.
Officers from the neighbourhood policing team carried out extra patrols in the town in afternoons and evenings where there had been increased reports of anti-social behaviour.
Dispersal orders were also put in place earlier in the week in Barrow town centre where large numbers of youths were causing issues.
Police also raided a property after a member of the public said drug activity was causing anti-social behaviour.
A large amount of class A drugs was seized and a man has been arrested.
In Ormsgill, a moped was seized after a teen was found riding with no insurance or licence and community beat officers from Walney and Roosecote worked together to tackle anti-social driving,.
Two people were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug after being stopped by the team. The driver of the vehicle was also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He has since been bailed for further investigation.
Sergeant Gareth Sargent, of Barrow Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This week we have also seen our officers issue fixed penalty notices, made ‘It’s Your Choice’ referrals and contact a number of parents about their children’s behaviour during this half term.
“Activity will continue throughout the weekend with officers patrolling more hotspots in the area with increased visibility to prevent this type of behaviour.
“We need the support of parents of those who may be involved in some of this behaviour. With the darker nights approaching and half term parents can support us by making sure they know where their children are going and what they are doing and asking these questions.
“I’d like to encourage the public to continue to report anti-social behaviour to us. This is the best way to help us direct resources to the right areas to tackle these incidents.”
