Workington Reds have signed 18-year-old Blackpool winger Dannen Francis on a month’s loan.
Francis is a member of Blackpool’s Development squad and also featured in the first team squad for the game with Liverpool Under-21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
Described as a player with an eye for goal he will go straight into Danny Grainger’s squad for the visit to Guiseley on Saturday in the NPL Premier Division.
It’s the start of four successive away games for the Reds before the end of the month and Grainger is focusing on halting the slide down the table after a two-week break from competitive football.
He had tried to bring in a centre-half, with seven days notice put in on the player but in the end he opted to stay with his current club.
Grainger has Josh O’Brien, a young centre-back from Carlisle United on a work experience loan who played for his parent club on Wednesday and scored in the 4-1 Fred Conway County Cup win at Aspatria.
He also has Kitt Nelson on loan from Preston while Kofi Moore has been with the club all season so far and is due to return to Oldham in the New Year.
Long term injury absentees Bobby Carroll and Lewis Reilly are slowly nearing fitness.
