A family-run Lake District gallery is hosting a special event on Friday with artist and author Phil Hobbs.
Hobbs is launching his book, The Lake District: A watercolour journey at Old Courthouse Gallery in Ambleside.
The event is free and light refreshments will be served.
Celebrating over 50 years of living and working in the Lake District, Yorkshire-born Hobbs invites us to accompany him on a journey through this unique part of the world, retracing the steps that over that same period have provided the inspiration and the material for some of his best-known work.
Illustrated with over 240 of his remarkable drawings and paintings, many taken from the sketchbooks that Phil has kept throughout his professional painting life, this volume gives an insight, not only into the working life of the Lake District but also that of the artist.
Hobbs works predominantly in pure watercolour and has participated in many national exhibitions and held a number of solo shows in the UK, USA and Europe. His time more recently is divided between painting in the UK and Italy. He is a past president and an honorary life member of the Lake Artists Society.
