Workington Comets have announced another new signing for the 2024 season.

Finland international Antti Vuolas will join the line-up at Northside.

Vuolas, who rode for Finland in the 2023 Speedway World Cup in Wroclaw, may be remembered for a memorable Heat 6 race victory where he beat former World Champions and SGP riders Nicki Pedersen and Jason Doyle.

The 24-year-old also sits second behind Kacper Pludra in the averages in the U24 Polish Ekstraliga. He has an average of 2.547 in the U24 Ekstraliga for Lublin in 2023 and a cumulative points total of 182 points including 43 race wins.

He also featured once for the Lublin senior Ekstraliga squad in the 2023 season. Vuolas also claimed bronze medal in the European Pairs Championship with fellow countryman Timo Lahti back in October adding to his already impressive CV.

Workington Speedway promoter Andrew Bain said: “We have been looking at Antti for a while now, he’s still young but has already beaten some world class riders on the continent, so for him to agree to ride for us in 2024 is testament to what we’ve achieved here at Northside.

“Antti has already expressed to me how good the new Northside track looks on social media, but when he gets here I think he will love it even more and it will suit him down to the ground. Also our fans I’m sure will give him a very warm welcome!”

Antti will come into the Comets lineup with a 5.00 assessed average.
