Windscale qualified for the final of the Alan Hood Trophy for the second year in succession with a 2-0 victory over Seaton Carew.
The Atoms now await the results from the other side of the draw to determine who they will meet in the final as Durham Corinthians play Norton and Stockton Ancients, with the winners taking on Richmond in their semi-final.
Windscale made a strong start, dictating possession in the first 20 minutes of the game and denying Seaton the chance to settle.
Seaton custodian Adam Linsel was brought into action as early as the second minute making a good save from a drive by Lewis Jolly. But the Atoms took the lead three minutes later from a corner kick.
It was Jolly again whose wicked delivery caused confusion within the Seaton defence. Their failure to clear the danger effectively allowed Matt Metcalf to drill the ball into the back of the net from eight yards.
Will Rooke was next to test the Seaton keeper with a free kick from 25 yards. The ball was arrowing towards the top corner, until Linsel somehow got across to make an incredible save, tipping the ball around the outside of the post.
The Atoms were unfortunate not to add to their tally as the woodwork came to Seaton’s rescue following a header from Metcalf which came back off the crossbar and a Reece Fretwell effort struck the post.
Seaton had rarely troubled the Atoms rear-guard in the first 30 minutes, however the flow of the game was disrupted following a head injury to a Seaton player who had to be substituted, with a second injury substitution following five minutes later.
Windscale doubled their tally two minutes before the break with a well worked goal. Rooke fed the ball to Jolly who burst down the left side before pulling the ball back to Rooke again who drilled in from close range.
In the second period the Atoms were less effective with Seaton still battling to reduce the arears and get back in the game but the Windscale back four ensured keeper Lee Jolly was rarely troubled.
It was Rooke again who came closest to any side scoring when his header came back off the post. Windscale made three substitutions to successfully manage the contest to a conclusion.
Windscale return to League action next week with a visit to South Moor.
